BERLIN (AP) — The German government announced on Friday that it has finalized the budget for 2025 and a stimulus package for Europe’s largest economy, resolving a prolonged disagreement that posed a threat to Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s center-left coalition.
After extensive discussions that lasted into the early hours of Friday, Scholz, a Social Democrat, along with leaders of the Free Democrats and Greens, agreed on various plans, including increased spending on defense and affordable housing. Scholz confirmed that ministers would officially approve the plan at a Cabinet meeting later in the month.
