Entrepreneur Batyr Ravshanov, operating under the Tudana brand in Turkmenistan, has received backing and grant incentives from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the European Union (EU).
In 2020, Tudana secured a loan from EBRD and a grant from the EU, enabling the expansion of production areas by 1.5 hectares and acquiring valuable knowledge and recommendations. International consultants collaborated with Batyr Ravshanov to enhance greenhouse irrigation systems and promote sustainable water usage. They conducted a thorough analysis of water availability, climatic conditions, and lighting to suggest appropriate fertilizer composition changes.
Batyr Ravshanov highlighted that these changes led to an almost twofold increase in strawberry production, from 56 to 100 tons per year, a 95% reduction in pesticide use, and more efficient pest control methods. Their greenhouses now use 20 times less water to produce 1 kg of strawberries than open-field cultivation.
Tudana, a leading strawberry producer in Turkmenistan, supplies products to over 300 retail points nationwide and expands its reach by exporting strawberries to neighboring countries such as Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
