Greece is aiming to be a key part of the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) and serve as India’s gateway to the European Union, stated Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis on Tuesday at the 2nd CII India Europe Business and Sustainability Conclave in New Delhi, as reported by the foreign ministry, ANA.
Gerapetritis emphasized that this ambitious connectivity project would “enhance the strategic importance of the regions involved, both economically and geopolitically, while promoting peace and stability.”
Prior to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ upcoming visit on Wednesday, Gerapetritis attended the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) conclave with his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar following their bilateral meeting. He commended Jaishankar’s efforts in fostering the Greece-India strategic partnership, which is built on shared values of democracy, peace, justice, and respect for the rule of law and a rules-based global order.
He mentioned that he led a business delegation of 100 Greek entrepreneurs to explore collaboration and cooperation opportunities and highlighted the benefits of the EU-India relationship in promoting stability and prosperity, including a large market with half a billion consumers, highly skilled labor, and a single market without trade barriers, among other advantages.
