Last year 2023 marked the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Spain as well as the 10th anniversary of the joint construction of the “Belt and Road” initiative.
On March 9th, 2023, a train carrying standard boxes of Spanish wine, olive oil, and other Spanish products departed from Madrid to China (Zhejiang Yiwu). Simultaneously, another train named “Yi-Xin-Europe” departed from China to Spain. This highlights the growing influence and progress of the “Yi-Xin-Europe” project in connecting China and Spain.
The train “Yi-Xin-Europe” plays a crucial role in enhancing bilateral trade between the two countries. The transportation of Spanish products to China allows for rapid access to the Chinese market, meeting the demands of Chinese consumers. Conversely, China also exports products such as tea leaves, epidemic prevention supplies, cross-border e-commerce products, and cars to Spain, creating various opportunities for both markets. In 2022, the volume of goods traded between China and Spain exceeded $50 billion, indicating a robust economic relationship.
In the future, the train “Yi-Xin-Europe” will continue to be a key player under the ¨One Belt, One Road¨ policy. The mutual reception of imported products is highly encouraged by both countries. Through e-commerce platforms, enterprises can monitor cargo transportation in real-time and enhance logistics efficiency. The expansion of the “Yi-Xin-Europe” route to other European cities and Chinese cities will increase cargo diversity and train utilization frequency, meeting market demands and strengthening the economies of both countries.
